d.A.N. Doctors

What is a D.A.N. Doctor?
There are many theories about what may cause autism. Some suggest that
autism may result as a type of allergic reaction to some environmental
trigger such as soaps, pesticides, medications, sugar, aspartame, gluten or
vaccines. Some suggest a genetic cause or immune deficiency.  Since we
haven't reached a consensus on the answer to this question, the "best"
treatment for autism still eludes us.
As a result, most mainstream practitioners will recommend a combination of
behavioral therapies and pharmaceutical treatments. On the other hand,
others who believe strongly that autism is caused by avoidable factors will
approach treatment by eliminating the possible triggers and sometimes
recommending treatments and diets that some mainstream practioners may
question or even denounce.
The Defeat Autism Now (DAN!) project, created by the Autism Research
Institute
, postulates an approach to autism treatment called the "DAN!
protocol" based on the biomedical theory of autism. Many parents subscribe
to the DAN! doctors approach and search out practitioners that follow these
recommendations.

Dr. George Daviglus and Dr. Luis Rodas are both featured on the DAN
Practitioner listing.

The FDA clears and/or approves medical devices, not therapy.
